Summary

Elevate Your Career as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Marine Civil Engineering - Based in Devon, UK.

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the expanding commercial team at TMS as we continue to deliver complex, high-value marine and civil engineering projects. This position offers a competitive salary plus bonus scheme and car allowance, based at Dawlish, Devon head office.

Location: Head Office, remote or hybrid (to be agreed), site visits and on-site across the UK as required

Key Responsibilities

Lead cost planning, forecasting, and value reporting across assigned projects.
Prepare tenders, bills of quantities, variations, and claims; negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Monitor cost/value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow, and margin performance.
Oversee procurement and subcontractor management, ensuring compliance and risk control.
Provide commercial guidance to project teams and mentor junior quantity surveyors.
Ensure commercial governance, timely valuations, and accurate final accounts.
Experience in marine infrastructure, flood defence, coastal engineering, or civil construction will be highly advantageous.

Essential Criteria

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
MRICS or CICES (or working towards) is desirable.
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or marine infrastructure.
Strong track record in cost management, CVRs, forecasting, and contract negotiation.
Solid understanding of UK construction contracts (NEC, JCT or equivalent).
Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.

Desirable Criteria

Experience in marine, coastal, or flood defence projects.
Familiarity with marine plant hire, piling, or commercial diving.
Knowledge of digital commercial systems and reporting tools.
