Qualified Teacher Status
Degree
Evidence of recent and appropriate professional devlopement for role of Headteacher (for a first-time head) or evidence of ongoing leadership and management professional devlopment (if a serving head)
Upto date safeguarding training and knowledge of legislation
Successful leadership as a Headteacher/Deputy/Assistant Head in mainstream secondary or in a PRU, special or Alternative Provision
Evidence of successfully leading school improvement
Evidence of the application of strategies to review, evaluate and improve teaching and learning
Evidence of leading curriculum development
Experience of monitoring staff performance
The ability to provide support and advice to the Governing Board to enable it to meet its responsibilites
To have had experience of guiding, mentoring or training individuals or teams
Maintains good awareness of current national education policy and strategy - in particular Alternative Provision and SEND
Proven excellence in teaching pupils in a Secondary Phase or to have taught successully in mainstream secondary, PRU or Alternative Provision setting
To have working and current knowledge and understanding of both Key Stages in secondary phase
Can effectively analyse school data and identify appropiate actions which form the school improvement plan
Committment to ensuring inclusion and addressing diversity positively
Sound understanding of how children learn, how teachers can best teach and how to raise achievements
Strong behaviour management skills
An ability to communicate effectively, both orally, writing, with a range of audiences
Leader of learning, demonstrating, promoting and encouraging excellent classroom practices
Committment to professional development for all staff and self
Good committment to sustaining regular attendance at work
Able to assess and balance risks and opportunities
Ability to engage and work collaboratively with parents, carers, school community and wider partners
Ability to plan, priortise and organise self and others
