We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant (TA3+) to support the learning and development of our students with SEMH needs. You will work closely with the classroom teacher and other support staff to create an inclusive, positive, and safe environment where students can engage with their learning, develop their social skills, and manage their emotional well-being.
This role is working within our primary setting therefore KS1 experience would be preferable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored learning programs to ensure that students are actively engaged and making progress.
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills development.
- Support the implementation of personalised learning strategies and interventions.
- Help with the management of classroom behaviour, ensuring students follow school rules and expectations.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of activities that promote emotional and social well-being.
- Provide personal care and support for students, as required.
Who We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH or similar needs, is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- The ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
- A passion for supporting children’s emotional and social development.
- A team player who is willing to collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to ensure the best support for students.
