The post holder will act as a resource for child protection advice and supervision, assisting the Safeguarding Children lead in the development and implementation of Safeguarding initiatives and practice improvement.The post holder will work closely with all levels of staff in other statutory and voluntary agencies in order to continue to develop a seamless service for children and families. There is an expectation that they will assist in the development and delivery of training in both single and multiagencyforums and carry a supervisory caseload of practitioners who are involved in the care of vulnerable children and their families.The post holder will work as part of a dynamic multi-agency integrated team, providing specialist safeguarding support to all clinicians - supervision, advice, guidance and training relating to the safeguarding agenda, along side a Mash role - assessing notifications and referrals regarding children aged 0-18 that are received by the MASH. The MASH process includes researching and collating health information from a range of NHS providers both locally and Nationally. With due regard topatient confidentiality, the post holder needs to interpret and share the information that is necessary to safeguard and/or promote the welfare of a child.The post holder will work closely with all levels of staff in other statutory and voluntary agencies in order to continue to develop a seamless service for children and families.Duties and Responsibilities:Patient/customer care (both direct and indirect)Demonstrate clinical effectiveness and application of policies and procedures in practice.Provide evidence-based care that is responsive to client/practitioner need.Analyse and assess safeguarding situations appropriately and act accordingly.Participate in the MASH multi-agency risk assessment to inform the case management, advising where necessary and challenging decisions when necessary. To promote and develop collaborative interagency work, representing health in these matters.Work in partnership with community healthcare colleagues, primary and secondary health care, voluntary and statutory organisations in response to clients identified health and social needs, including child in need/child protection needs.Through liaison and dialogue, identify and collate the relevant health information to add to the multi-agency risk assessment.Record, interpret and present health information and issues that can impact on the risk or needs assessment of child/children from a range of health perspectives. This may involve disclosing relevant information on the parents or carers in ensuring the information is processed fairly andproportionately.Explain clearly, and with sound rationale, highly complex safeguarding children information, to a wide range of professionals.Disseminate and communicate decisions and appropriate health information to relevant health professionals including the Named Nurse and/or Doctor where appropriate and for sharing best practice.Identify service gaps and issues relating to effective clinical pathways and /or cross boundary arrangements. Escalating evidence of ineffective safeguarding arrangements within or outside of the MASH.Immediately report to the statutory Named Safeguarding Children Professionals and/or the Executive Safeguarding Children Lead when issues require escalation or where the case is likely to become subject to press or public interest.Record appropriate information about health outcomes on the appropriate recording system on a case by case basis.Assist in the evaluation and analysis of the health contribution to the MASH process.Proactively participate to identify risks and issues with regards to the functions of the integrated team to facilitate resolution and/or escalation processes.Record, interpret and present health information and issues that can impact on the risk or needs assessment of child/children from a range of health perspectives. This may involve disclosing relevant information on the parents or carers in ensuring the information is processed fairly andproportionately.Contribute to performance improvement of the MASH taking the health lead for identified areas.Provide relevant and timely advice and reports on the function of the MASH to the named professionals, for inclusion in Safeguarding Children Board Reports.
