Support the Senior Sister/Sister in the appraisal of Newly Qualified Staff, & Non-Qualified Staff. Develop their knowledge and expertise on People Management (Human Resources) policies to support their own development. Responsible for their development in understanding budgetary constraints and controls. Responsible for the safe use, inspection, maintenance and security of all goods and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained at all times. Review and appraise processes and policies to allow for continuous improvement within the Trust which ensure delivery of best practice. Carry out individual risk assessments and contribute to the management of risks in line with Trust Policy. Implement and conform to Trust and Departmental Infection Control policies and procedures. Take responsibility for own development and ensuring knowledge and skills are up to date using clinical audit in order to improve the standards of patient care and reflective practice in preparation for on-going re-validation. To work in other departments or Hospitals to ensure levels of safe staffing are maintained across the Trust. Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of people is maintained at all times. Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice and guidance from the Registered Nurse or other registered care professionals as appropriate. Report back and share information with the registered nurses on the condition, behaviour, activity and responses of people. Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate registered care professionals. Assist in the assessment of and contribute to the management of risk across several areas within the environment where care is being delivered. Assist in the implementation of appropriate action to meet the specific physical, emotional and psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals. Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, temperature, respirations, pulse Undertake clinical tasks including venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs appropriate to competence and setting Demonstrate understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions for example dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities Engage in reflective practice including management of self and reflection on own reactions, asking questions and reflecting on answers given Signposting patients to services which may be of benefit to their wellbeing, promoting community connections and make best use of local assets. To administer medications in accordance with NMC code. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and outcomes To engage in coaching conversations with patients to enable their independence and capability within their own network and community. Demonstrate good understanding of principles of consent and ensure valid consent is obtained prior to undertaking nursing and care procedures. Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberties and applies principles to everyday practice seeking advice / guidance from the Registered Nurse or registered care professional as required. Develop a working knowledge of other providers resources and referral systems to ensure individuals needs are met, within parameters of practice. To act as a Link worker, attending relevant meetings and disseminating back information and changes. Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate. Time management skills and ability to prioritise. Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional. Able to recognise when escalation to a registered practitioner is required. To carry out appraisals for B2 Health Care Assistants staff following training. Demonstrate skills in relation to coaching/teaching individuals/carers/other staff.
