Are you the right person for the job?
• Minimum 3 years working with and supporting children, ideally in social care or children’s services, including needs and risk assessments, safety planning, managing caseloads, liaising with other agencies, and delivering groupwork programmes
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, frameworks, trauma-informed practices, and the impact of domestic abuse on children and families
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to cope with crisis, conflict, and distress
• Experience in record keeping, file management, report writing, and using computer systems, with good literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to manage own caseload and work under pressure
• Commitment to equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory practice, and empowering children and families
• Possession of a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Flexible approach, including outside working hours when needed
What will your role look like?
• Receive referrals via Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and respond promptly, prioritising risk and need
• Conduct needs and risk assessments and develop tailored support and safety plans
• Deliver specialist one-to-one and group sessions covering the impact of abuse on emotions, self-esteem, and relationships
• Advocate for children’s needs with social care, education, health, and police services
• Support children through the criminal justice system when required
• Develop, monitor, and report on outcomes while maintaining accurate electronic case records
• Participate in multi-agency meetings, MARAC, and safeguarding processes
• Create safe spaces for children to express themselves and be involved in decisions about their support
• Work closely with other support workers to ensure families have access to the full range of services
• Deliver and develop group programmes such as DAY Programme, Talking to My Mum, Children’s Freedom Programme, Expect Respect, and ACE Recovery Toolkit
