An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant at Leicestershire County Council. Leicestershire is one of the best performing councils in the country. About the Role
The successful applicant will join a motivated, friendly team committed to delivering finance and treasury management which is making a real difference to local communities. We are looking for a qualified AAT or part CCAB Accountant to support the Senior Technical Account to manage the Pension Fund financial accounts, and the Treasury Management activities, contract vetting and leasing advice services for the County Council and the Pension Fund. It will involve working closely with strategic finance professionals and the external auditors and will maximise the benefit of the Oracle Fusion system and the associated reporting tools.

About You

Final AAT qualification holding the relevant membership for this body or part-qualified CCAB.
In addition you must also have:
- Finance Experience & Knowledge, strong background in budgeting, management accounts, general accounting, and finance best practice including controls, reporting, forecasting, and financial accounting.
- Sector‑Specific Knowledge of Local Government statutory finance operations and reporting, regulatory developments, and government policy impacting local authorities.
- Communication & Technology Skills, able to communicate financial matters to non‑financial managers and use technology to enhance management information and working practices.
- Performance & Decision‑Making, customer‑focused approach, flexibility, persistence, resourcefulness, and ability to interpret financial information to inform decisions and manage risk.
- Leadership & Collaboration, supports and develops people, communicates clearly to a wide array of representatives, understands the organisational impact of decisions, works collaboratively across teams, and demonstrates strong professional and ethical standards.
- Continuous Improvement, encourages innovation, uses feedback for service improvement, takes informed risks and gathers insight to improve decision‑making.
