The post holder will assist the Trust’s professional lead (Trust Fire Safety Manager) with all fire related issues at all Trust’s properties. The post holder will be responsible for technical and general fire safety advice and completion of detailed fire risk assessments in accordance with HTM05 part K and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005, including the delivery of face-to-face fire safety training for Trust staff and contractors. The post will require a comprehensive approach to ensure that fire safety issues are recognised, planned, and implemented in an appropriate manner.

The post holder will be required to use sound judgement and communication skills where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, such as would be required when communicating in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere.

Reporting to the Trust Fire Safety Manager (TFSM) the post holder’s primary focus will be to manage the fire risk assessment audit system, the delivery and output of all staff and contractor fire safety training.

The post holder will act as Fire Safety Advisor across Peterborough, Stamford, Hinchingbrooke Hospitals and community sites. They will ensure all projects comply with fire safety legislation and support the development, monitoring and review of the Trust’s fire action plan. They will attend internal incidents when required and complete fire risk assessments in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, maintaining accurate records and reports.

They will support inspections by local fire authorities, review recommendations, and oversee remedial actions. The role includes monitoring fire‑related equipment maintenance, advising managers on fire safety matters, and ensuring correct placement of firefighting equipment and signage. They will respond to fire alarms, assess staff actions, and investigate fire‑related adverse events.

The post holder will attend helicopter movements at PCH and lead on fire safety training, delivering induction, refresher and specialist sessions for all staff groups and contractors. They will maintain training records, support compliance targets, and assist with fire champion training. They will work with Fire and Rescue Services on joint exercises and advise managers on their responsibilities under fire safety legislation. The post holder will deputise for the TFSM during periods of absence.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
