Purpose of Job
The post holder will be tasked with administrating first aid to children during the school lunchtime. This person will also be responsible for completed the necessary forms and paperwork in line with the school’s first aid policy.
With training, the post holder may also be required to deliver long-term medication as part of Individual Health Care Plans, as directed by the Headteacher (for example, this could include the delivery of emergency epilepsy medication or diabetic insulin).
Specific Duties
Support for Pupils
1. Provides first aid treatment to pupils, staff and visitors as and when necessary.
2. Ensure that all pupils who suffer any injury or accident are dealt with appropriately in accordance with the school’s agreed procedures.
3. Complete all the necessary first aid forms and paperwork to ensure the school are compliant with Health & Safety.
4. Liaise with the School Office regarding pupils who may need to go home following a first aid injury or accident, providing them with all of the relevant details.
5. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, providing support where necessary or signposting concerns to colleagues.
6. Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters as appropriate.
7. Attend to toileting needs and the clearing up of bodily fluids as required.
8. Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
9. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
10. Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
11. Monitor the behaviour of pupils, encouraging positive behaviour and reporting any incidents to the Senior Midday Supervisor as appropriate.
12. When needed, supervise pupils during the lunch period in dining environments, playground areas and school premises, ensuring the safety, welfare, physical and mental well-being of pupils and the maintenance of good order and discipline.
13. Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined.

14. Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to first aid, safeguarding and child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person within school.
15. Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
16. Behave in a manner that is professional, friendly and fair with pupils and colleagues, demonstrating and role-modelling politeness and respectfulness
17. Demonstrate an excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
18. Appreciate and support the role of other professionals and work co-operatively as part of the wider school team.
19. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
20. Attend relevant meetings as required.
21. Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
22. Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
