Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £15–£20 per hour (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Immediate Start
About the Role – Airbrushing Technician
The Big Phone Store is expanding our in-house refurbishment capabilities and we’re looking for a skilled Airbrushing Technician to join our re-manufacturing team in Wolverhampton.
This role focuses on precision airbrushing and refinishing of mobile phone housings, frames, and small components, helping restore devices to an exceptional cosmetic standard. We’re keen to bring someone in immediately to help scale this process.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with experience in spray finishing, airbrushing, or fine-detail paint work, particularly on small components rather than large panels.
Key Responsibilities
• Airbrushing and refinishing phone housings, frames, and small components
• Preparing surfaces for paint (cleaning, masking, degreasing)
• Applying base coats, colour coats, and protective finishes
• Setting up and operating airbrushing and spray equipment
• Carrying out visual quality checks to ensure a high cosmetic standard
• Cleaning, maintaining, and caring for all tools and equipment
• Following paint processes, safety procedures, and PPE requirements
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in airbrushing, paint spraying, or fine-detail finishing preferred
• Strong attention to detail and excellent hand–eye coordination
• Comfortable working with small, delicate components
• Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality
• Confident following written and verbal instructions
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques
Experience from the following backgrounds is highly desirable:
• Automotive or motorcycle refinishing (detail work)
• Metal finishing or component painting
• Jewellery, watch repair, or cosmetic restoration
• Spray painting or powder coating of small parts
What We’re Looking For
• A quality-focused individual who takes pride in their work
• Reliable, motivated, and keen to help build a new process from the ground up
• Flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced refurbishment environment
• Committed to health, safety, and cleanliness standards
What We Offer
• Competitive hourly rate (£15–£20 per hour)
• Permanent position with long-term stability
• Private company pension contribution
• 33 days annual leave including Bank Holidays
• Opportunity to play a key role in expanding a growing refurbishment operation
