Summary

Join us in shaping the future of waste and recycling in South Holland!

South Holland District Council is launching a major transformation of our Waste & Recycling Collection Service in October 2026—and we’re building a brand-new engagement team to make it happen.

As an Engagement Officer, you’ll be the face of this change; working with residents, businesses, and community groups to build understanding, encourage participation, and help create a cleaner, greener South Holland.

You will create materials to publicise and promote the council’s waste and recycling services, which will include updating council web pages and delivering presentations to schools, local community groups, and other audiences

You’ll thrive if you:

Enjoy connecting with people and building positive relationships
Can adapt to different situations and work independently and as part of a team
Are ready to take initiative and find solutions

What are we looking for?

Confidence speaking with a wide range of people, both one‑to‑one and in larger group settings.
Comfortable delivering presentations, workshops, or public engagement sessions.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and engagingly
A flexible approach to working hours (including occasional evenings/weekends)
A full driving licence and ability to travel across the district

No waste experience? No problem! If you have transferable skills and a passion for making a difference, we’ll provide full training.

Apply now and help us shape a sustainable future.
