About the role
As a Local Housing Officer, you will be expected to be locally based to enable you to provide exceptional services to our tenants putting them at the heart of everything we do in a defined geographical patch. As a mobile worker you will be expected to spend most of your time on site where your patch is located.
A key element of this role will be the coordination of internal and external services to meet the diverse needs of customers delivering services that meet individual and local needs to a high standard and within the guidelines set. Building positive relationships with tenants, care providers, commissioners and partners.
You will be the first point of contact with respect to complaints, tenancy management, anti-social behaviour, tenancy enforcement, income management and lettings
What you’ll need to succeed:
-Your own vehicle with business cover insurance and a full UK driving licence
-Experience of working in social housing, managing a portfolio of properties and tenancies
-Whilst good knowledge of housing practice, housing law and the principles of service charge management is essential, but to really succeed it will be your values and passion that will set you apart
-Experience in working effectively and compassionately with people with complex and challenging needs
-A self-starter who isn’t afraid of a challenge, shows innovation, initiative, empathy and passion. At a time of continuing change, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt and be flexible
-Well-developed problem solving, influencing & organizational skills
-The ability to scrutinise service charges, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and showcasing value for money to both the tenant and organisation
-Ability to collaborate, network and be a strong team player
-Excellent administration skills, attention to detail and accuracy in writing, reporting and numeracy. Ability to self-manage a varied and demanding workload, prioritising and organisation of tasks
-Knowledge of Welfare Benefits/ Housing Benefit and the ability to support residents to maximise their income and challenge/appeal benefit decisions
