A well-established, progressive, RCVS accredited small animal hospital in Shrewsbury is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in Emergency and Critical Care to join its experienced and supportive clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment but prefers daytime working hours only.
The Role:
This role offers a stimulating and varied caseload, focused on emergency and critical care, inpatient management, and A&E presentations. The successful Veterinary Surgeon will take clinical responsibility for hospitalised patients, delivering high-quality medical care and coordinating treatment alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team.
Key duties include:
• Managing emergency and critical care cases presenting through the A&E service
• Overseeing inpatient care and treatment plans
• Performing emergency procedures where appropriate
• Collaborating closely with veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff
• Communicating compassionately with clients during challenging and emotional situations
This position is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon passionate about ECC, hospital medicine, and continuous clinical development.
Skills and Experience Required:
The successful candidate will be:
• A qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered or eligible)
• Confident managing complex medical cases, with some surgical experience
• Highly motivated to develop technical and clinical skills
A strong team player who enjoys a collaborative, high-energy hospital environment
• Compassionate and professional when dealing with clients under pressure
Desirable (but not essential):
• Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care

Working Hours & Rota:
