About the role
We are looking for a reliable, patient and understanding carer, preferably someone experienced with spinal injuries or complex care needs. You must be comfortable working in a home environment, supporting both independence and safety. You will be supporting our service user living with a traumatic spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis from the chest down. Our client uses an electric wheelchair and requires support with a range of daily living activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Personal care, including bowel care and assistance in bed
  • Help and support with physiotherapy exercises for arms and legs
  • Support in the kitchen (our service user enjoys cooking but requires assistance)
  • Assistance with eating, as they have difficulty swallowing
  • Accompanying them to pub visits, meals out with family, and holidays
  • Communication awareness: their speech can sometimes be difficult to understand, and they may speak louder to make themselves clearer-this is not aggression, so applicants should be patient and confident in communication

  • Here at Sugarman Health and Wellbeing, we are looking for an outgoing, bubbly candidate who can show their best assets in providing the highest quality of support.
  • A minimum of 6 months of professional UK Care experience.
