Summary
We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable female Personal Assistant to join our small team supporting our wonderful 13-year-old daughter, who is autistic and non-verbal. She is a happy, affectionate teenager who loves music, sensory play, swimming, and being outdoors. She needs full support with all personal care, meals, and daily routines.
The role includes
• Full assistance with toileting (including continence pads and menstrual care)
• Dressing and undressing (sensory-friendly clothing)
• Showering/bathing and hair washing
• Preparing and helping with all meals and drinks (we will show you her likes/dislikes and any texture needs)
• Using her AAC communication app (we provide full training)
• Following her visual timetable and keeping her world calm and predictable
• Going out to jump parks, cinema, swimming, hydrotherapy pool, etc. (full clean driving licence and business insurance
• Working alongside another PA and occasionally other Parents (good communication and teamwork essential)
Hours (we can be flexible and discuss at the interview)
School term-time: mixture of after-school, evening, and weekend shifts
School holidays: mainly daytime hours
Sleep-over shifts are sometimes available.
You must have/be
• Female (genuine occupational requirement due to intimate personal care)
• Experience with autism, non-verbal teenagers, and personal care
• Full UK driving licence and own car
• Excellent English and references we can check
• A calm, patient personality and a good sense of humour
• Happy to complete mandatory training (Care Certificate, autism awareness, manual handling, safeguarding – all paid)
Experience preferred but not essential
We will consider caring, reliable people with the right attitude even if you are new to the role – full training and shadowing given.
Enhanced DBS Certificate and references required.
