Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with sample logistics, including the movement and tracking of geological samples upon arrival and throughout the laboratory.
• Prepare rock, concrete, and mineral samples using state-of-the-art cutting, grinding, and polishing machinery for subsequent analysis.
• Support the thin section laboratory by producing high-quality samples specifically for microscopic examination.
• Work within the mineralogy preparation lab to process samples from mining applications, ensuring they are ready for analysis.
• Perform daily manual handling tasks, including the safe lifting of materials weighing 10–20kg.
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, following all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Skills and Requirements
• Proven practical skills and excellent craftsmanship, with a focus on producing high-quality finishes.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and precision, paying close attention to fine detail.
• Experience or willingness to work in a busy, fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Capability for daily manual handling of materials.
• The discipline to adhere to strict procedures and quality control guidelines.
• Effective communication skills and a positive, collaborative approach to teamwork.
