What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Biology teacher to join our Science Faculty. Working under the direction of the Head of Science, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching that enables all students to make strong progress.
The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, using effective assessment and intervention strategies, and contributing to the wider life and ethos of the school.
The teacher will be responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and student welfare, while supporting school policies and safeguarding procedures. They will actively contribute to curriculum development, collaborate with colleagues across educational phases, engage with parents and external agencies where appropriate, and take part in ongoing professional development and performance management.
Essential Criteria
• Good honours degree in Biology or a related subject
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it
• Experience teaching Biology at KS3 and KS4 in a secondary setting
• Excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Confident use of ICT to support teaching and learning
• Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and student wellbeing
Desirable Criteria
• A levels in relevant subjects and evidence of ongoing professional development
• Experience teaching Biology at KS5
• Ability to teach Physics or Chemistry up to KS4
• Experience of pastoral roles (e.g. Form Tutor)
• Understanding of data analysis to support student progress
• Interest in innovation, careers education, and developing links with industry or universities
• Leadership potential and a positive sense of humour that engages young people
