Main responsibilities:
• To triage the arrival of all students to the AP
• To provide intervention support for students in the AP
• To provide intervention support for students on a PSP
• To align the curriculum in the AP with the classroom curriculum (working with Heads of Subject)
• To work with the pastoral leads to oversee the behaviour data to ensure interventions are in place
• To work with the Heads of Year to put in place PSPs and any off site reflections/directions
• To attend meetings with staff, parents and external agencies as required and to prepare data and reports for these meetings if required.
• To attend TAC meetings to discuss individual students and provide a report for their behaviour
• To review and support all pastoral staff with CPD linked to behaviour management/interventions
• To provide reports for behaviour to SLT/governors as required
• To update the suspension data for the local authority
• To quality control the readmittance paperwork following suspensions
• To support with the admin linked to behaviour escalations; suspensions and permanent exclusions
• To co-ordinate the testing and screening of students following suspension
• To line manage the behaviour team
• To attend parental meetings as required for students on the graduated pathway
• To co-ordinate with the pastoral team to make recommendations to SLT for behaviour escalations as and when required
• To regularly review the behaviour model alongside SLT to ensure best practice at Five Acres High School
• To be a visible presence around the site at social times to offer additional duty capacity but also to understand the school climate.
• To support the completion of suspension paperwork, as and when necessary.
You will need:
At least 5 GCSE’s which must include at least a 4 or equivalent in English and Maths
Qualified to A level standard
Previous experience of working with children.
Experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviours
Experience and knowledge of supporting parents/carers in implementing strategies
Have the skills and ability to problem solve, communicate and organise
Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal sensitively with issues/individuals with tact, diplomacy and discretion
Able to demonstrate a level of resilience and take on board constructive feedback to further improve performance.
A willingness to work with strict routines and make an impact.
A flair for innovative solutions to behaviour management within our AP unit
Good interpersonal skills with both adults and children both written and verbal
Outstanding organisational skills
