We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Gas Safety Assurance Manager to support the implementation of Mitie's Gas Safety Procedure. Reporting to the Lead Gas Safety Assurance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance, safety, and continuous improvement across the Mitie Group. Developing and maintaining a strong, collaborative, relationship with the Mitie Group will be key to this role.
Main Duties
• Serve as the authority for managing and implementing Mitie's Gas Safety Procedure within a defined area of the Mitie group.• Oversee and maintain the integrity of Mitie's Gas Safety Procedure within a defined area of the Mitie group.• Provide expert guidance on gas and oil installations and appliances as a gas subject matter expert.• Act as the responsible person for one or more of Mitie's Gas Safe registrations• Collaborate with the Lead Gas Safety Assurance Manager and other Gas Safety Assurance Manager to prepare and distribute technical bulletins promoting safe practices and effective management of gas works within Mitie.• Support the Lead Gas Assurance Manager in monitoring industry developments and ensuring that Mitie remains at the forefront of sector changes.• Deliver technical support and communicate effectively, tailoring explanations for non-technical audiences.• Support the Lead Gas Assurance Manager in ensuring that operational teams are promptly informed of critical updates, including legal changes, new standards, and notices from manufacturers or suppliers, maintaining governance and a thorough audit trail of subsequent actions.• Develop specific solutions for technical issues, mitigate future risks by sharing lessons learned and best practices across the portfolio.• As a qualified subject matter expert, perform root cause analysis of incidents, accidents, or failures involving management, planning, engineering systems, and equipment to prevent recurrence• Engage with the broader team and consult other key experts when multidisciplinary investigations are necessary• Conduct audits to verify compliance with Mitie's Gas Safety Procedures, relevant legislation, British Standards, IGEM technical standards, and manufacturer literature.• Produce SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) action plans based on audit outcomes.• Participate in continuing professional development, training, and development opportunities to ensure your expertise stays aligned with evolving laws, guidance, industry requirements, and safety alerts.• Assess and, when appropriate, recommend the appointment of personnel in line with Mitie's Gas Safety Procedure.• Support the Lead Gas Assurance Manager in identifying and reporting any deficiency in the number of trained and competent gas operatives or Gas Safety Coordinators that may affect site coverage, system functionality, or adherence to Mitie's Gas Safety Procedure, and provide recommendations and corrective actions to address identified deficiencies.
What we are looking for• A HNC in a relevant field (e.g gas engineering / building services engineering /mechanical engineering) is preferred.• Hold or working towards Engineering Technician (EngTech) status.• Hold relevant ACS modules in natural gas and LPG• Membership of the Instiute of Gas Enginners & Managers is preffered• Demonstrable technical experience working in the factilies management industry.• Strong knowledge and understanding of natural gas and LPG installations and appliances.• Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.• Proactive problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to complete root cause analysis and utilise data to identify deficiencies, trends, and opportunities.• Willing to travel and be familiar with the different types of equipment and systems for your disciplines.• Be proficient in undertaking assessment and audit of personnel and processes using technology.
