An RCVS-accredited, independent veterinary practice is seeking a Poultry Veterinary Surgeon to join its expanding poultry-only team. The practice is based in a small market town near York, offering an excellent work–life balance with easy access to the Yorkshire Moors, the Howardian Hills, and strong road and rail links.

About the Practice

This well-established veterinary practice has a large commercial poultry and game bird client base, working across meat, table egg, and game production, including both intensive and free-range systems. The team provides dedicated poultry veterinary services to farms across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, and Scotland.

The practice is known for delivering a personal, consultancy-led poultry veterinary service, with regular on-farm visits forming a key part of effective disease prevention, flock health management, and long-term client success.

The Role

This position offers the opportunity to work as a Poultry Veterinary Surgeon involved in all stages of poultry health and production, including:

• Advising on poultry disease prevention and biosecurity strategies
• Flock health planning and ongoing consultancy
• Supporting audit and assurance scheme requirements
• Advising on management and production performance
• Conducting regular on-farm visits

The role is suitable for both experienced poultry vets and new graduate veterinary surgeons, with structured training and mentoring provided.

• Join a 23-vet practice, working within a dedicated poultry team
• Current poultry team includes 3 Poultry Veterinary Surgeons, Technical Advisors, and experienced support staff
• Access to a high-calibre field support team, including a specialist biosecurity advisor
• Friendly, experienced veterinary team with regular in-house clinical meetings
• Purpose-built poultry post-mortem room and laboratory
• Modern, spacious premises with a large poultry dispensary and warehousing facilities

Working Pattern

• Full-time position
• 4.5-day working week (flexible hours available)
• One full day off every 5 weeks
• 1:3 weekend rota
• Extremely flexible rota to support work–life balance

Salary & Benefits

Candidate Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon (or eligible)
