Pastoral Mentor - SEMH Support - Secondary School - Islington
Full Time | Term Time Only | ASAP Start
Up to £125 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are recruiting a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Mentor to support students in a secondary school in Islington, working with pupils who present Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs alongside a range of additional educational needs.
This role is ideal for someone with proven SEMH experience who is passionate about supporting young people's emotional wellbeing, engagement and personal development within a secondary school environment. You will work closely with pastoral leads, SEN teams and teaching staff to help students overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral and SEMH support across KS3 and KS4
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour and resilience
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils in a secondary setting
- Implement support strategies and contribute to individual support plans
- Work closely with SEN staff, pastoral teams and subject teachers
- Support students during lessons, interventions and unstructured times
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Essential experience supporting students with SEMH needs
- Experience working in a secondary school setting (highly desirable)
- A calm, empathetic and consistent approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Background in SEN support, youth work, mentoring or pastoral roles (desirable)
