The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary or secondary school in the Lewisham area.
The school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism, Speech & Language needs, ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist in implementing behaviour, sensory, and communication strategies
- Support the class teacher in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual needs
- Help create an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and social development
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN in a school setting
- Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
- Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and SEN best practice
