Two part-time (36hrs) Scheme Support Officers are required for a young persons’ Supported Accommodation scheme in Caerphilly. You will work on a three-week rolling rota, which includes 12-hour shifts, both waking nights and days.

About the role

This is a Scheme Support Officer role based at our warm, welcoming and friendly service, Maes Y Derwen in Caerphilly. Working in a team, you will provide support to a diverse group of service users aged 16 and over who are experiencing homelessness, trauma and complex needs.

You will provide housing related supported to equip our service users with the knowledge, skills and tools that they need to be able to live independent lives.

Day to day duties:

Engaging and interacting with the people we support
Supporting Project Workers in delivering workshops relating to tenancy management and health and wellbeing
Welfare checks
Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
Dealing with challenging behaviours
Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have
Our aim is to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to live independently. This challenging role involves managing complex needs and behaviours, including mental health, substance and alcohol misuse, and anti-social or offending behaviour, requiring an adaptable approach to engage a diverse clientele.

Skills and Experience Needed

A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
Ability to provide advise appropriately
The knowledge of issues facing vulnerable and homeless people
A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations

Pay and Pensions -

£24,531.00 FTE (£12.75 per hour)

26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 27 days after 1 years service or cash equivalent of 1 days’ annual leave.
