We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Additional Learning Support Lead (Adult and Online). The information below provides more detail about the role.

Duties:

  • To be the first point of contact for learners with regards to ALS and support the Adult and Online team in taking general day to day ALS enquiries following up as appropriate both online and face to face across the group.
  • To complete a welcome call with all learners who have disclosed an additional learning need to discuss requirements and tailor support.
  • To administer the access of all ALS resources required by students or the department
  • To arrange and book meetings required by trainers, including all Learning Support interview meetings for potential and enrolled students
  • Support with administration of Exam arrangements
  • To book and undertake 1-1 sessions on Teams with learners to support learning.
  • To book Cognasist screening and trainer support to analyse results and agree next steps.
  • To assist with the timetabling and tracking of personalised resources for students with support needs
  • To signpost online support mechanisms and resources and create individual learning plans for all learners.
  • To ensure evidence is recorded and compliant and funding claimed
  • At peak times of the year, represent the college ALS Department at open events and attend career's evening at local schools.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of working in a school/college environment
  • Experience with Exam Access Arrangements processes in an FE context
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent Communication and telephone skills

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in an administrative role
  • Educated to Level 3 (A-Level or equivalent) is desirable

  • Be able to work effectively within a complex environment to short timescales
  • Be confident working independently and organising own work priorities to fit department and wider business need

  • Self-motivated, proactive and professional
  • To be sensitive to the learning needs of students with additional learning support needs, being able to communicate with them effectively
