We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident ‌Literacy Specialist‌‌‌‌ to join our team at Laurus Cheadle Hulme, on a Fixed-Term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in education, whether you're considering a career in teaching or already have experience working with young people. As a ‌Literacy Specialist‌‌‌‌, you will be responsible for raising levels of literacy amongst identified groups at KS3 and KS4.If you would like to join our Laurus family in a rewarding role that changes the lives of our pupils by empowering them to become the best that they can be then we would love to hear from you. This position is contracted on a 37 hours per week Term Time Only basis. This means you will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during the school holidays unless the contract requires you to do so. In total you will be in work for a minimum of 37 out of 52 weeks. Job Purpose Provide learning support to students who are on the SEN register and/or are of lower ability, this will include supporting students in their mainstream lessons and in small groups.Deliver small group and one to one intervention programmes to support students with literacy difficulties, following the schemes of learning and intervention programmes in place.Key Skills & ExperienceSound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent Experience of working with young people who are vulnerable and/or who have special educational needsPrior experience in a similar roleTo learn more about what the Trust offer, including our wide range of employee benefits and access to further professional learning, visit our Careers page.
