Solicitor – Private Client

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Location: Oxted

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm



An established and expanding law firm is seeking a qualified Solicitor to join its busy Private Client department. The firm offers a friendly, professional, and supportive working environment and is looking for a like-minded individual keen to develop their experience across a broad range of Private Client matters. Newly Qualified Solicitors will be considered, provided they have a minimum of 2 years’ dedicated Private Client experience.



The Role:

The Private Client Solicitor will provide high-quality legal advice and services across a broad range of Private Client matters, including Estate Planning, Wills, Probate, Trusts, and Lasting Powers of Attorney. The role involves working closely with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure seamless transactions while maintaining excellent client service and high professional standards.



Key Responsibilities:

Advising clients on the preparation and updating of Wills.
Preparing and advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and Deputyship applications.
Administering Estates, including acting as executor or on behalf of executors, and liaising with HMRC, probate registries, and beneficiaries.
Setting up and advising on the administration of Trusts.
Maintaining accurate case files, managing deadlines, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Communicating with clients in person, by telephone, and virtually, ensuring they are supported and kept informed throughout.
Actively contributing to business development and building long-term client relationships.
Collaborating with colleagues across other departments as required.


About you:

Qualified Solicitor admitted in England & Wales with experience in Private Client work.
Strong technical knowledge of Wills, Probate, Trusts, LPAs, Estate Administration, and relevant legislation.
Excellent drafting and client care skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
Able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Confident IT skills, including experience with case management systems.
Friendly, approachable, and client-focused with high levels of integrity.
Sensitive and empathetic when dealing with clients in emotional or complex situations.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure while managing client expectations.
Eligible to practise and compliant with SRA requirements, with a strong commitment to ongoing CPD.
