About the Team:
Dairy Research and Innovation Centre
The Dairy Research and Innovation Centre conducts a wide range of activity to develop, implement and promote sustainable breeding and management systems for dairy cows. The work was based at Crichton Royal Farm, Dumfries for almost 50 years and has recently relocated to new and extended facilities at Barony campus (also near Dumfries) alongside new office and laboratory facilities in the Dairy Nexus development.

The Opportunity:
SRUC are seeking a Research Assistant Based at Kings Buildings, Edinburgh, you’ll collaborate closely with the Digital Dairy Chain (DDC) Team at Barony Campus, working hands-on in the DDC Maker Space and contributing to cutting-edge transformational Dairy Research.
Your work will focus on pioneering solutions for on-farm and downstream milk processing technologies, driving innovation that maximises the value of milk while reducing energy consumption and waste in processing and storage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop research methods, design experiments, and manage experimental work.
- Collect and analyse data, report progress to supervisors, and ensure milestones are met.
- Support DDC Maker Space Co-ordinator with client appointments and trials.
- Support DDC Maker Space Co-ordinator with clients who require help with processes such as waste management as well as NPD.
- Support DDC Data Research Team to develop connectors for farm twin project.
- Adapt work patterns to meet commercial deadlines when required.

Minimum Qualifications and experience:
Degree in Engineering (SCQF Level 9).
