Summary

A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

• An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Learning Disability Liaison Service based at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals on a permanent basis.
• You will be primarily based at St. Helier's Hospital, however the Learning Disability Liaison Service is delivered across Epsom, St. Heliers and St. George's Hospital. There will be occasions cover and support is required across our 3 acute hospital sites.
• We are an established team who provide expert, caring, flexible and holistic support to patients with a diagnosed Learning Disability receiving inpatient or outpatient care across our trust.
• We are looking for a registered nurse who has knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities.
• This is a clinically facing role and as such you are expected to be on site. Interviews will be face to face.

You will be expected to:
• Aim to provide equitable access to all services provided to patients with a learning disability at any point of their hospital journey.
• Provide clear advice, support and guidance around The Mental Capacity Act, including mental capacity assessments, best interests meetings and advocacy services.
• Provide clinical assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities, working closely with the Lead for Learning Disabilities and wider Safeguarding service.
• Work in a rewarding, challenging and developing service, which offers the candidate the opportunity to extend their assessment skills and knowledge, particularly in a Hospital setting.
• Review and initiate developments to enhance the quality of services for patients with learning disabilities and their carers and families
• Be willing to develop your knowledge and skills in a supportive environment. Candidates must have an understanding of current health and social care issues which affect people with learning disabilities. You will need to be able to work within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Successful participants will receive an induction programme, with support from the Learning Disability Lead. The post sits within the wider Safeguarding Adults team at the Trust.
