Head of Logistics - Wholesale
£90,000 to £100,000 plus great benefits, including an annual incentive scheme, private healthcare, and a company car (Work Level 4)
Scunthorpe - in this role you'll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and coming to the office a couple of days per week (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

Co-op Wholesale is growing, and we're looking for people who want to lead on what comes next. As our Head of Logistics, you'll oversee the day-to-day performance of our logistics network, managing a £140m budget and ensuring we deliver exceptional service to over 4,000 partner stores. You'll work closely with DHL, our third-party logistics provider, and play a key role in shaping the future of our wholesale operation - balancing cost efficiency with outstanding service.

In this role, you'll manage day-to-day performance while setting strategies that deliver exceptional service and value. You'll also play a key role in shaping a logistics model that's fit for the future, driving cost efficiency, improving service, and building a logistics network that supports our growth for years to come. It's a role where scale meets complexity, and where your decisions will directly shape the experience of thousands of independent retailers.

Why this role matters

We're building something big at Co-op Wholesale. With a refreshed structure and exciting plans ahead, we're creating new opportunities to strengthen our proposition for our independent retailers, key accounts, and a growing corporate client base. To do that, we need to make sure we're able to provide our partners with the products their customers love. That's where you come in.

This is your chance to shape what comes next - bringing new ideas to life and making a real impact. Be part of it.

What you'll do

* Lead the logistics function for Co-op Wholesale, managing a £140m budget and ensuring operational excellence across 10 sites in the UK and Ireland
* Oversee the day-to-day relationship with DHL, our third-party logistics provider, ensuring KPIs and service standards are met
* Drive cost efficiencies and operational improvements without compromising service quality
* Set and deliver medium-term strategies (2-4 years) for logistics performance and network optimisation
* Monitor and manage depot capacity, safety, compliance, and audit requirements
* Represent logistics at senior leadership level, influencing decisions and shaping future plans
* Stay closely connected to our 10 sites across the UK and Ireland, visiting regularly and strengthening relationships with colleagues and partners on the ground.

What you'll bring

* Significant experience in retail logistics or supply chain, ideally within a multi-site operation
* A proven track record of managing large budgets (£100m+) and delivering cost efficiencies and operational improvements
* Experience working with or managing third-party logistics providers
* Strong strategic thinking with the ability to set and deliver long-term plans
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with credibility to operate at senior leadership level
* A collaborative, service-focused approach and the ability to inspire teams and partners

* 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
* A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
