Site Engineer
The Role
Here within the @one Alliance, we are a totally collaborative organisation made up of our eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
Water and our natural environment are the foundation of life, society and economies. This is due to a combination of a growing economy, the highest rate of new housing development in the UK, climate change and being a major agricultural producer.

Anglian Water have an ambitious capital investment programme that will provide safe and resilient water supplies, permit sustainable growth, provide climate change resilience, and protect and improve the natural environment.
Reporting to the site management team, this site-based role will require you to take ownership of the engineering works on site, contributing to planning the works and ensuring the works are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
You will be managing the day-to-day quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals in accordance with the digital design models and ensuring highly accurate records are produced, kept and stored within digital project files.
You will also be assisting the site management teams with all aspects of health, safety and environmental management.
You will be heavily involved with the development of Graduate/Apprentice Engineers for talent growth and succession.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day site quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals.
- Ensure programme, quality and budget assurances are supported.
- Generate temporary works design briefs to a standard accepted by the Temporary Works Coordinator
- Review designs and raise technical queries to the design teams.
- Generate, review and submit red-line drawings for works packages to the design teams. Produce a 3-month lookahead for your section of work.
- Update the project 4-week lookahead programme weekly for your section. Manage and coordinate any clashes with other site works with the Site Manager and the site team.
- Identify delays and propose potential mitigation measures.
- Understand the design specifications and drawings for your section.
- Produce Inspection and Test Plans for your work and ensure effective implementation, and Inspection and Test Records for the works being undertaken, and ensure these are recorded within the nominated digital platform.
- Produce and manage materials approvals for your works.
- Ensure quality records are captured and stored correctly.
- Generate Non-Conformance Records and ensure these are promptly closed out.
- Look to minimise waste by ordering the required materials to optimise project performance.
- Supporting the Site Manager in material take-offs, stock control, etc. and liaising with the procurement team to ensure orders are not exceeded without authority.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with the Working Time Directive.
- Ensure you are compliant with the use of mandatory safety monitoring equipment, near-miss reporting and compliance with the company procedures.
- Maintain H&S standards to enable a zero-accident culture.
- Actively work with your team, line manager and the H&S Team to improve upon H&S procedures where possible.
- Report all near misses through the appropriate channel to prevent future accidents.
- Take full responsibility for maintaining the highest health and safety standards on your section of the project.
- Generate and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for your works, ensuring that they identify and appropriately mitigate health and safety hazards.
- Complete safety inspections and ensure the actions are closed out.
- Set and maintain clear expectations for health and safety with your team and suppliers working on your section
- Encourage and promote near-miss reporting, ensuring close-outs outs delivered and fed back to the site manager and operatives through the electronic reporting.
- Deliver pre-start of shift briefings, ensuring all areas of work are covered.
- Ensure that self and those responsible for work fronts to the values of @one that are expected of them and respect the public and their surroundings.
Essential:
- HND in Civil Engineering or HNC Civil Engineering Technician Level 4 or equivalent
- Understanding of CAD & BIM proficiency
- CSCS Card
- 3-day First Aid
- Ability to use robotic total station and GPS Surveying equipment.
- IT skills proficient in the Microsoft suite of packages
