What will the Accounts Semi Senior role involve?
Delivering accurate bookkeeping and accounts services for a varied portfolio of small business clients
• Preparing monthly and quarterly management information to support client decision-making
• Compiling year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies with precision
• Reconciling bank and control accounts to ensure financial accuracy
• Handling VAT returns, including MTD submissions, and supporting compliance deadlines
• Providing clients with day-to-day bookkeeping advice and resolving queries directly
• Supporting junior team members and reviewing their bookkeeping work
• Collaborating with seniors and partners on more complex accounting assignments
• Using cloud accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks alongside Excel and practice systems
• Assisting clients transitioning to cloud-based bookkeeping solutions
Suitable Candidate for the Accounts Semi Senior vacancy:
• 2–4 years’ practical experience within an accountancy practice, focusing on bookkeeping and accounts preparation
• Proven experience in preparing VAT returns and familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) processes
• Confidence and clarity in communication, both written and verbal
• Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Comfortable working with cloud accounting tools like Xero or QuickBooks
• Studying towards or holding AAT/ACCA qualifications, or equivalent experience
• Experience supporting small, owner-managed businesses and preparing management accounts is advantageous
• Motivated to progress toward a senior role and develop client management skills
