Summary

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.

A little about myself:
We are looking for a kind, patient, and emotionally attuned Personal Assistant (PA) to support a 13-year-old who is autistic and currently experiencing challenges with their mental health. This young person lives at home with their family in Swansea. They have a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, and PDA, and can find busy or unpredictable environments overwhelming. The right PA will be someone who can offer calm, consistent support, build trust over time, and help them feel safe, understood, and empowered. Having a compassionate, non-judgmental approach is key. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a positive difference in a young person’s life by supporting their wellbeing and helping them feel more confident in the world around them.

Driver required to take me out.

Male / female preferred.

Hours of work
4 hours a week during term time.
8 hours a week during school holidays.

Rate of pay.
£13.13

Essential:
I need you to:
• Awareness and understanding of neurodivergence, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
• Ability to support in crowded or loud environments by calmly guiding to a quiet, safe space.
• Awareness that additional processing time is needed when crossing busy roads, with gentle reminders to stay safe.
• Respect for social boundaries, avoiding small talk with unfamiliar people unless initiated by the young person.
• Emotionally attuned and able to offer consistent, calm support during moments of overwhelm or distress.
• Respect for privacy around gender identity, with no pressure to discuss it.

Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• Awareness and understanding of LGBTIQA+ identities.
•Ability to build trust through empathy, patience, and genuine connection.

I’d like support with
• Support to get out and about in the community, visiting places that match my interests.
• Support at home to engage in activities I enjoy.
• Someone who can help me feel safe, calm, and confident in new or busy environments.

I will need my PA to:

Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
