Summary
Job Overview
-Carry our Planned and reactive maintenance and new works tasks on the installation and maintenance of air con units and refrigeration systems
Main Duties
-1. Maintain and install all domestic and industrial installations and appliances.
2. Ensure materials for works are fully checked for suitability, and are correctly booked in and out of stores (reporting any defects or damage).
3. Produce a quality end produce first time with no re work required.
4. Organise work to minimise lost time, or non productive time.
5. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC plant including:
a. Split, multi-split and VRF/VRV systems
b. Chillers (air and water cooled)
c. Refrigeration plant (commercial/industrial)
d. Air handling units (AHUs) and fan coil units (FCUs)
e. Heat pumps and comfort cooling systems
6. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
7. Identify and report plant condition, risks and lifecycle replacement requirements
8. Recover, handle and charge refrigerants in accordance with F-Gas regulations
9. Complete pressure testing, leak detection and system performance testing
10. Maintain accurate service records, reports and compliance documentation
11. Ensure that labour record sheets are completed accurately (correct job Nr's are entered), all overtime is sanctioned and labour records are submitted on the day required.
12. Respond to emergency call outs as and when required.
13. Carry out any other duties as directed by the management team.
14. Liaise with clients, supervisors and other trades as required
15. Support apprentices or junior engineers where necessary
16. Participate in on-call rota and emergency call-outs (if applicable)
What we are looking for
-Qualifications & Certifications (Essential):
NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or HVAC
City & Guilds 2079 / 2078 or equivalent F-Gas Category 1 certification City & Guilds / NVQ in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent trade qualifications
Full UK Driving Licence
Qualifications & Certifications (Desirable):
City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing - electrical)
AM2 / AM2S (if electrically biased)
Manufacturer training (e.g. Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Carrier, Trane)
IPAF, PASMA, Working at Height, Confined Spaces
First Aid at Work
-Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience as a qualified Refrigeration & HVAC Engineer
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills (mechanical and electrical)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
-Skills & Abilities
Full clean driving license.
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
