The Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient use of more than 120 vehicles, mainly minibuses, to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises approximately 350 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire.

The team delivers approximately 800,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys. The transport provided enables people to access day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community. We also undertake registered local bus services and community transport journeys.

We are looking for caring, flexible and committed people to support a client on journeys to and from activities at various centres for 15 hours per week. The position will be based in Selby.

The Role

You will be responsible for the safety of the passenger during these journeys and will ensure that the passenger boards and alights safely as well as ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided.

You will need good communication skills as you will liaise daily with carers and colleagues.

Experience is not essential; however, some experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage.

The role requires the flexibility to work split shifts across 5 days on a Monday to Friday basis.

Typical hours of work would be 07:00 – 09:30 and 15:00 - 17:30. However, the hours may need to change in order to meet the needs of our passengers.

The role requires you to be medically trained to administer emergency medication to a child in accordance with a care plan.

We also offer a comprehensive training package including a Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS), Basic First Aid and Managing Challenging Behaviour.
