Summary
Applications are invited for the role of School Business Manager within the Greater Manchester Business School, a pivotal position supporting the effective day-to-day management of academic staff and resources across the Faculty.
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing key operational activities including staff records, workload allocation and workforce planning. Acting as a central point of liaison with University professional services – including HR, Finance, IS&T, Academic Administration, and Student Recruitment and Admissions – the Business Manager will ensure that school-level processes and structures operate efficiently and in line with institutional requirements.
The role will also involve coordinating purchasing activity in accordance with agreed budgets and working closely with GMBS academic and professional leads to support operational planning and delivery of strategic priorities. The postholder will be responsible for preparing and coordinating papers and reports for the monthly Attendance Board meetings for both the Greater Manchester Business School and the Greater Manchester Law School.
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of an honours degree or equivalent professional experience, with a postgraduate qualification being desirable. You will have proven experience of providing operational support in a fast-paced environment, with a strong understanding of systems, processes and governance. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential, as is experience of managing budgets in line with corporate and statutory requirements.
