About The Role
Support Worker – Adults with Autism
Gowerton, Swansea
£12.60 – £12.80 per hour | Full Time | Days & Nights Available (40.25 hours per week)
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role
Are you passionate about supporting adults with autism to live active, fulfilling, and independent lives? Join Orbis Education & Care as a Support Worker at Ty Seren, where no two days are the same and the difference you make is truly life changing.
At Ty Seren, we support adults with complex needs associated with autism, using person-centred, sector-leading practice. Our approach blends care, education, and therapeutic support to create tailored placements that reflect each individual’s strengths, interests, and goals.
What the Role Is Really Like
As a Support Worker, much of your time will be spent helping individuals with everyday tasks and encouraging independence. Because our individuals enjoy getting out and about, driving is a key part of the role — whether that’s supporting trips into the community, attending activities, exploring the Welsh countryside, or enjoying days out that build confidence and life skills.
Some days will be active and fun — cooking together, going for walks, or supporting hobbies and interests. Other days will be more care-focused, providing personal care, supporting daily routines, and offering emotional reassurance. When challenges arise, you’ll be there with calm, compassion, and understanding, helping individuals feel safe, respected, and supported.
You’ll never be on your own — full training, ongoing guidance, and a supportive team are all part of your journey with Orbis.
A Typical Day May Include:
- Supporting adults with their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing
- Driving and supporting individuals to access activities, appointments, and community outings
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and life skills development
- Building strong, trusting relationships
- Working as part of a close-knit team to deliver personalised support plans
- Keeping accurate records of daily activities and progress
- Supporting with household tasks, including cooking and cleaning
What We’re Looking For:
- A caring, patient, and compassionate nature
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Resilience and adaptability when supporting individuals with different needs
- A willingness to learn — full training provided
- Basic IT skills for record keeping
- Flexibility to work a rota including weekends and occasional night shifts
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with adults and requires an Enhanced DBS with barred list check.
What You’ll Get in Return:
- Refer a Friend Scheme – earn up to £1,000 per successful referral
- Clear career progression and funded qualifications – 97% of our managers are promoted internally
- Health Plan after probation
- A supportive, values-led organisation that genuinely invests in its people
