Grounds Person/Gardener
Grade 3 Point 5-7 £25,583 - £26,403 per annum dependant on experience
Permanent all-year-round position
37 hours per week Monday – Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Frome College is looking to appoint a grounds person/gardener to maintain our school grounds. The college grounds feature sports pitches as well as areas of lawn, trees, shrubbery and borders with different planting schemes. Working hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm and Fridays 8:30am – 4pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
Working as part of a small team, your main duties and responsibilities will include:
• Preparing and maintaining sports pitches (rugby and football)
• Operating and maintaining the grounds equipment and machinery
• Providing a garden maintenance service including leaf clearance, weeding, spraying, trimming and tidying of hedges, trees and shrubs, border tidying and planting
• Preparation of the school site for events, e.g. Open Days, Parents Evenings
To succeed in this role, you will:
• Be happy to work outdoors in all weather and conditions
• Be reliable, hardworking and self-motivated with a ‘can do’ approach to ensure the job is completed on time and to a high standard
• Have good organisational skills
• Have a friendly and helpful personality with a smart, presentable appearance
