Job overview

This is a 12 months fixed-term post. The appointee would be based in the Cardiology Directorate at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the Manchester Heart Institute. The role will combine working alongside and supporting Consultant Cardiologists within Cath Labs, Critical Care and ward settings. This post is suitable for individuals who wish to complete a period of higher training in Heart Failure and develop their practical, research and management skills prior to applying for a consultant post .

There is an expectation that the post holder contributes to the middle grade on-call rota.

Please also see job description. The post is based at Wythenshawe Hospital. Wythenshawe Hospital provides tertiary cardiac services to the South Manchester and North Cheshire area and is supported by on-site cardiothoracic surgery and an active cardiac transplant unit. The Cardiology department has five cardiac catheter laboratories.

The post holder will have the opportunity to fulfil an operator role in the Heart Failure service, troubleshooting role in outpatients commensurate with the level of the post holder’s experience. There will be a commitment to at least one regular clinic per week. There will also be a specific responsibility for updating and maintaining clinical data in the HF database as well as auditing the same data.

There is an expectation that the postholder will make a significant contribution to the research and audit programme and quality improvement programmes in the department and also to the department’s educational programme .

There is an expectation that the post-holder will contribute to the middle-grade on-call rota.
