The Role: Quantity Surveyor (On‑Site, Northampton)
This role suits an experienced Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a hands‑on, commercially focused environment. You will be based primarily on a major Northamptonshire renovation and new‑build scheme valued at £55m, including a £4–5m heritage restoration phase. The project involves preserving historic facades, coordinating specialist stonemasons, and managing commercial aspects of around 100 new units within the grounds.
The business is also progressing a £31m apartment development in London, currently three‑quarters complete, with further phases and 400 units planned over the next few years.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all commercial and cost‑control activities on a day‑to‑day basis.
Maintain strict oversight of budgets, variations, and unexpected costs.
Work closely with specialist subcontractors, including heritage stonemasons.
Prepare valuations, cost reports, procurement schedules, and tender documentation.
Support planning and pre‑construction activities
Liaise with site teams, design teams, and senior leadership to ensure financial accuracy.
Contribute to commercial oversight across wider residential and London schemes.
About You
Experienced Quantity Surveyor with residential, heritage, contracting experience, new build & refurbishment.
Strong commercial acumen and confidence to challenge costs.
Comfortable working on‑site and managing subcontractor relationships.
Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical specialists.
