This is an exciting opportunity to join our HR Advisory Team to cover maternity leave for a 12 month period.
The HR Advisor role is a critical role of a small but busy HR Advisory function. The chosen candidate will be advising staff and line managers on queries related to policy, legislation and terms and conditions. supporting on a variety of employee relations casework and regularly workshopping/troubleshooting with managers around people related issues, like sickness absence management.
We are seeking someone with CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience or qualification. We would like someone with good knowledge and experience in an HR Advisory capacity. This is a role where we ideally want someone to hit the ground running with some experience of employee relations. The chosen candidate will be proactive, curious and customer driven, with attention to detail and strong communication skills. Soft skills and the ability to influence are key to the role.
Given this is a fixed term role, secondments could be considered with agreement from substantive employer/department.
1. Advise, guide and resolve queries on terms and conditions of employment and core people management policies and practice including leave entitlement, sickness absence, family friendly provisions, flexible working, disciplinary, grievance and capability etc.
2. Be the link between the Trust and Occupational Health, advising managers on referrals, submitting to Occupational Health and following up on reports and recommendations.
3. Be the support specialist on the provision of a high quality, proactive and professional HR advisory and coaching service to managers on the management of a variety of people related matters including sickness absence, investigations, disciplinary, grievance and capability cases. This includes undertaking a defined case load, attendance (where necessary) at investigation related meetings, providing HR support to panels and ensuring a high quality of written reports and documentation.
4. Regularly monitor and evaluate employee relations cases and Occupational Health referrals to ensure that they are delivered in a timely manner; identify delays and consider solutions to resolve these, escalating where appropriate
5. Support the HR Managers with complex work streams e.g. management of change, TUPE, redundancy etc.
6. Provide administrative support with the job evaluation process.
7. Support in the development and implementation of HR & OD related communications, policies, procedures and guidance.
