Summary


We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic team member to join our front desk team in the Oak Centre for Children and Young People's unit. You will need to be warm and empathetic to ensure our patients and families are welcomed to the department, with kindness and compassion to relieve the stress and anxiety faced. You will provide administrative responsibilities for the department, undertake scheduling of treatments and procedures and ensure a seamless booking system for our patients.

The administrative and scheduling team work as an integral part of the Children & Young Adult service to maintain an efficient, welcoming and proactive administrative and reception service.

The post holders must adopt a professional and caring attitude with a polite and courteous manner in all aspects of communication to staff and visiting patients and their families.

To ensure all patients appointments and day care treatments are booked accurately.

To undertake scheduling of appointments for chemotherapy treatments using the e-scheduling system within local guidelines and protocols.

To develop specialist knowledge of cancer and chemotherapy and supportive regimes used within and unit.
Accurately record data

To plan patient treatment and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of influencing factors such as the nursing staff rota, pharmacy turnaround times, availability of blood results etc.

To liaise directly with the patient and their family regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the chemotherapy experience. Escalating to the clinical teams if necessary.

To liaise with the clinical teams and nursing staff to prioritise the scheduling of new referrals.
To plan ahead and to reschedule workload when necessary, to ensure that the unit capacity is optimally utilised.
