About the role
This role is a sickness cover position with an expected end date of 3rd of June 2026, or until the post holder returns to work.
Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding & Student Wellbeing, this post will contribute to the college’s common goals.
To achieve this, specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Support individual students with a safeguarding disclosure, ensuring support is implemented effectively and reviewed regularly
• Liaise with external services for any safeguarding concerns (child or adult), providing timely relevant support and information
• Attend a range of external events including Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need Reviews
• Make timely referrals to a range of agencies such as Children’s Social Care to appropriately safeguard and support students
• Maintain oversight of Prevent related referrals across college, reporting to Head of Safeguarding regularly on number of referrals and outcome
• Maintain oversight of disclosure rates, identifying patterns and trends and support the encouragement of reporting in priority groups
• Keep up to date with current legislation, statutory and other guidance
• Work with the Head of Safeguarding to input on the design of new services, systems and Policies/Procedures
• Monitor the effectiveness of the implementation of all Policies/Procedures relating to Safeguarding: Working with the Head of Safeguarding in a solutions-focussed way to improve existing strategies
• Keep updated with and deliver high quality staff and student related Safeguarding training
• Lead on the welfare and support of students with a safeguarding disclosure in allocated curriculum area
• Ensure that all safeguarding concerns are logged and recorded in line with GDPR legislation
• Take a lead on implementing and monitoring Online Safety for students
• Support the Head of Safeguarding to design strategies for Online Safety in line with current legislation and guidance
• Support the Designated Safeguarding Practitioner to manage caseload and offer advice, information and guidance on complex cases
• Ensure that training is identified and implemented for the Designated Safeguarding Practitioner team in line with current trending concerns
• Support the Head of Safeguarding on the Designated Persons model to ensure that it is fit for purpose and ensure the Designated Safeguarding Persons team is maintained and provided with up-to-date training and support, including supervision
• Ensure that consent and confidentiality are paramount in all safeguarding practice
• Work on an allocated caseload of CLA students, supporting relevant internal stakeholders to complete PEPs, ensuring they are done in a timely manner with a person-centred approach
• Participate in the College’s induction, enrolment events and open evening events
• Support on the delivery of high-quality student events including whole campus safeguarding awareness events, ensuring such events are embedded as part of the cross-college tutorial scheme and enrichment calendar
• Deputise for the Head of Safeguarding when required, representing the College at events

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £35,497 - £40,996 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
