Summary

Background of department/role

We are committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, students and visitors. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our central Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) team.  

As HSW Advisor, you will work across the University alongside other advisors and specialists in a wide range of fields, including performing arts, engineering, science and medical fields. You will provide professional advice and guidance on all health, safety and staff wellbeing matters and promote the development of a positive HSW culture within the University community.  

You will support the development and implementation of effective HSW systems and policies, develop and deliver HSW training, perform audits and inspections, undertake risk assessments, report on HSW matters to relevant personnel and committees and support the continual improvement of the University HSW management systems.

You will have substantial experience in a HSW advisory role or in a role where you are managing health, safety and wellbeing matters on a daily basis. It is essential that you hold, or are working towards professional health, safety and wellbeing qualifications - please refer to the job description for the full list. You will need to be a practical thinker, solution driven, with strong communication and interpersonal skills and with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

The role will be based in Canterbury and will involve travel to other campus, with hybrid/ flexible working arrangements available.
