Act as a point of contact for patients, carers and telephone callers Attend and run outpatient point of care clinics for our patients Provide and receive complex and sensitive information such as personal medical information To deal with enquires from users, patients and other members of staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific staff advice where required To liaise between laboratory staff and users of the service and deal with telephone enquiries from users, patients and other members of staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific staff advice where required To work as part of a team and liaise with Medical Laboratory Assistants, Biomedical Scientists within the Haematology and Pathology Departments. To work alongside Trust colleagues in order to contribute to the Trust vision We Care and to contribute fully towards UHSussex NHS Trust corporate objectives, divisional and departmental delivery plans. Demonstrate respect, dignity and privacy of all staff and patients and act with kindness and courtesy. Attend regular staff meetings including multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure effective communication and dissemination of relevant information. To provide fast anticoagulation referral reviews, adding referrals to the DAWN database and CAREFLOW. Book clinic appointments where appropriate. To identify and problem solve on-going service issues and report to the Administration Manager and/or Clinical Nurse Specialists as appropriate. Liaise closely with the Administration Manager, Service Lead and Clinical Nurse specialist team highlighting any issues in a timely manner Close working with the Administration Manager to ensure constantly updated system reviews, patient management and best practice. Ensure all clinical responsibilities are conducted according to Trust policies and guidelines regarding infection control and prevention. Contribute to the provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all staff, patients, relatives, friends and hospital visitors. Answer patient telephone line including managing the answerphone system, dealing with complex anticoagulation queries, rebooking appointments as appropriate. Passing on advice provided by the Clinical Nurse Specialist when required. Book patient clinic appointments using CAREFLOW To use the 4s DAWN Anticoagulation Dosing System and enter patient data as required in an accurate and agreed timely manner Upload relevant documentation into DAWN and Evolve to develop a paperless environment. Perform quality control testing (NEQAS) for coaguchek equipment as required. Exhibit a high level of professional behaviour and attitudes at all times and demonstrate excellent customer care skills. Comply with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others. Adapt own practice in line with changes and developments of the service. Contribute as a team member, working a team to ensure the safe and smooth delivery for our patients, colleagues and service as a whole. Ability to work autonomously where required, problem solve and manage different areas of mixed workloads. You will be friendly and approachable to colleagues, patients, internal and external stakeholders. You will be an excellent communicator both verbally and written. You will take personal responsibility for ensuring that patients and staff are treated with courtesy and respect, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times. Act in ways that always follows the Trusts Values by supporting peoples equality, diversity and rights. Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and carers. Report any concerns regarding patient care to the Administration Manger and/or the Clinical Nurse Specialists.
