Cornwallis Academy are recruiting an Attendance Officer to join our supportive and friendly team to support with maternity cover. This role would be fixed term for a maximum of 12 months, starting early May 2026.
The candidate will be motivated and have understanding of the importance of excellent attendance at school. They will play a key part in the continual development of the monitoring and tracking of student attendance and ensure accurate attendance data input correctly. The role will also include work with families in order to comply with applicable attendance laws, codes and requirements.
Under the line management of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful applicant will also work closely with the Trust Attendance Officers.
This role is Monday- Thursday 08:00-16:00, Friday 08:00-15:30, Term time only plus INSET days, CPD and parents evenings (38 weeks total). Flexible working including reduced hours will be considered for the right candidate.
Essential personal skills, qualities and experience include:
• Competent user of Microsoft Office applications
• At least a pass in GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
• Experience of working to policy and procedures
• Excellent organisational skills
• Initiative, drive, determination and ability to work under pressure
• Support and guidance for other colleagues
• Have good communication skills verbally, in writing and with ICT
• Flexible team working skills
• Honesty, reliability and regard for sensitive / confidential information
• A working knowledge of SIMS (School Information management System) would be a distinct advantage.
