A welcoming and forward‑thinking secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated Careers Advisor to join their team on a long‑term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate professional who thrives on helping young people explore their future pathways and make informed decisions about their next steps.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) across the school. You'll work closely with students, staff, and external partners to ensure every young person receives tailored, meaningful guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one careers guidance interviews for students across KS3 and KS4
- Support pupils with post‑16 options, apprenticeships, college applications, and career planning
- Deliver group sessions, workshops, and assemblies on careers‑related topics
- Maintain accurate records of guidance sessions and progression pathways
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SLT, and external agencies
- Contribute to the school's careers programme in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks
Essential Requirements
- Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working with young people in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of post‑16 pathways, labour market information, and CEIAG frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
