The Oncology & Haematology Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital are looking for a full-time Apprentice Administration Assistant to join a team of staff who support the administrative work necessary for the smooth running of the Centre.
The ability to prioritise and structure workload and present a calm and understanding approach at all times is key to this role. Excellent communication skills and the ability to be able to treat patients with empathy, dignity and respect is essential.
Basic computer skills are required. Previous experience of working with the hospital electronic patient administration system is preferred but training will be provided.
You will be given a fixed term employment contract for the period of 18 months. During this time, you will work towards your Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. This role is full time, where you would be expected to complete 6 hours per week study.
Eligibility for this role:
• Can be any age post full-time education (16+)
• Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government funded training
• Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area. There needs to be significant new learning.
• Has been a UK resident for 3 or more years or meets the eligible and valid residency status and permission to work in the UK criteria
The post holder will work flexibly across all administrative services to meet service needs which will include reception, appointments, clinic preparation and all office support functions.
The post holder will need to be able to work 37.5 hours between the hours of 8am and 6pm and will work as part of a wider team including Consultants, Medical Secretaries, Nurses and Health Care Assistants. The post holder will be expected to cover administrative roles within both the Oncology and Haematology departments.
The Lingen Davies Centre and O'Connor Haematology Unit care for cancer patients within Outpatient clinics and Day Units delivering chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. You will be working as part of an Administration Team that are caring, friendly and helpful in making a great first impression when patients / visitors arrive in the Departments. The Administration team play a vital role in supporting our Health Professionals to provide the very best care. The Department offers a fully supportive environment to work in with great opportunities to progress.
To be eligible for the apprenticeship, the postholder must meet the Apprenticeship funding rules:
· Can be any age post full-time education 16+,
· Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government funded training,
· Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area. (There needs to be significant new learning.)
· Needs to be eligible for funding by living in the UK for 3 years or more or fits criteria in funding rules
