Summary
We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support our Quality and Production teams in ensuring that our fresh produce — including swede, potatoes, strawberries, and raspberries — is produced, handled, and packed to the highest standards of food safety, quality, and legality.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and experience within food production, agriculture, or fresh produce environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out quality inspections and checks at intake, during production, and at despatch • Assess fresh produce for appearance, size, weight, ripeness, defects, and shelf-life
• Monitor and record temperature, hygiene, and storage conditions
• Carry out sampling and quality testing in line with specifications
• Identify, report, and support investigations into non-conforming produce
• Assist with HACCP and food safety controls
• Support traceability, batch control, and product labelling checks
• Maintain accurate quality records and production documentation
• Work closely with Production and Intake teams to ensure standards are met
• Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the site
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and site procedures at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
• Experience in a Quality Technician, Quality Control, role within food production, agriculture, or fresh produce
• Understanding of food safety systems (HACCP)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to assess fresh produce quality
• Good communication and record-keeping skills
• Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office or quality systems)
• Written and spoken English and Russian language skills
Desirable:
• Qualification in HACCP Level 3, Food Safety, or a related subject
• Knowledge of fresh produce standards and customer specifications
• Experience working with BRC, Red Tractor, or retailer standards
