Can you bring the magic of a storybook to life for a class of wide-eyed six year olds?
Do you have the Phonics knowledge to help a child decode their very first sentence?
Are you seeking a career that balances the joy of working with children with the freedom to manage your own calendar?
If these questions sparked your interest, you are exactly who Randstad Education is looking for. We are currently recruiting energetic and supportive KS1 Teaching Assistants to work within our partner Primary schools across Leeds.
Key Stage 1 is the critical bridge between the play-based learning of Reception and the more structured environment of the juniors. Schools need staff who can nurture this transition, making learning fun while establishing the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy.
Your Daily MissionIn KS1, variety is the only constant. You won't just be a helper; you will be a facilitator of learning.
-
The Phonics Specialist: Leading daily energetic Phonics sessions (using schemes like Little Wandle or Read Write Inc) to prepare Year 1 students for their screening check.
-
Fostering Independence: Gently guiding children to work independently at their desks, helping them stay focused on tasks without doing the work for them.
-
Emotional Support: Being the comforting presence for children who are still learning to navigate friendships and the school routine.
-
Creative Support: Assisting with hands-on lessons in Science, Art, and Topic work, ensuring resources are ready and the classroom remains a safe, organised space.
-
Your Schedule, Your Rules: whether you are a parent returning to work or a graduate building experience, our app lets you accept shifts that fit your life.
-
Transparent Pay (PAYE): We believe in honest pay for hard work. You are paid weekly via PAYE, ensuring no third-party umbrella companies take a slice of your earnings.
-
Leeds-Centric: We understand the local area. From the busy inner-city schools to quiet village primaries, we strive to find you placements that are easy to commute to.
-
Skill Development: Gain exposure to different teaching styles and behaviour management techniques, boosting your CV for future permanent roles.
-
Classroom Experience: Previous experience working with children aged 5-7 is highly desirable. You should understand the balance between "nurture" and "structure."
-
Curriculum Knowledge: Confidence in supporting early reading and writing is essential. If you know your digraphs from your trigraphs, we want to hear from you.
-
Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
-
Character: Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to adapt quickly to new school policies.
There is a classroom in Leeds waiting for your energy and support. Don't let them wait.
Please apply today with your CV or contact the Leeds Branch on 0113 2462500 to discuss how we can get you started.
Randstad Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
