We are now recruiting for a Learning & Development Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering our people strategy.

This is a hands-on role where you'll design, deliver, and support a variety of training, coaching, and development programmes across the full employee lifecycle.

You'll work closely with colleagues across all levels of MML, identifying learning needs and creating engaging solutions that build capability, support operational excellence, and help our people reach their potential.

This role is ideal for someone with an operations background and experience in mentoring, coaching, or training, who is passionate about people development and progression.

In addition to this, as our Learning & Development Officer:

- Delivering a range of engaging learning and development interventions, including coaching, mentoring, and blended training programmes.

- Supporting the design, delivery, and rollout of operational and management development programmes in line with business needs and regulatory requirements.

- Delivering management development modules to team leaders and managers across the organisation.

- Coordinating and supporting the induction process, systems training, and operational training in line with National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Rail Regulations.

- Working with external suppliers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective training delivery.

- Evaluating training data and competence frameworks to drive continuous improvement.

- Providing one-to-one and group coaching to support employee performance and team development.

- Ensuring all learning content is current, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with business priorities.

- Contributing ideas and improvements to L&D initiatives, supporting a culture of continuous development.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

- Experienced in mentoring, coaching, or delivering training.

- Knowledgeable in operations (Operations Management and Driver experience desirable).

- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

- Organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.

- Empathetic, approachable, and passionate about helping others grow.

- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work evenings and nights when required.

- Qualifications & Experience

It is essential that you have:

- Proven experience as a mentor, coach, or trainer.

- Good knowledge of operations within a light rail or similar environment.

- Minimum GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above).

- Strong understanding of the training cycle and learning delivery.

It would be great if you had:

- NVQ Level 3 in Training/Assessor qualification, HND or Degree.

- Experience within a light rail organisation.
